Thor returns to Asgard in this sequel about the Norse Thundergod!
After having saved the world from destruction with his mighty allies in The Avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is faced with a new powerful nemesis in the form of Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston), who belongs to the race of the Dark Elves. After Malekith launches an attack on Asgard, which costs many lives, Thor has to cross into the dark parts of the nine realms to defeat the Dark Elves. But the only person, who has access to this sinister place is Thor’s highly untrustworthy stepbrother Loki (Tom Hiddleston). To save Asgard the two must work together…
Nearly all of the original’s cast members are set to return in this eighth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The exception being Josh Dallas, who played the role of Fandral in Thor. The actor had to pass on the role due to scheduling conflicts. Chuck-star Zachary Levi is replacing him. Also joining the cast is Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Oz, Lost) who fills the dual role of Algrim The Strong/Kurse, one of the most powerful Dark Elves. Clive Russell (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) also joins the cast, playing Thor’s older brother Tyr, the God of war.
