The Book of the Dead is opened again!
Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover the Book of the Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods. These forces possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left to fight for survival.
Evil Dead is a remake of the 1981 cult classic The Evil Dead, which was followed by Evil Dead II (1987) and Army of Darkness (1992).
Jane Levy (Suburgatory) will star as Mia, who replaces Ash (Bruce Campbell) as the main protagonist of the film. The young Uruguayan director Fede Alvarez of the film rose to fame in 2009 after his short film ‘Panic Attack’ was discovered by Hollywood production bigwigs on YouTube. Sam Raimi and Diablo Cody are responsible for the script, which is said to be quite different from the original and even bloodier, guaranteeing a hard R-rating.
