Goodfellas meets Wall Street with Martin Scorsese at the helm

Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) was one of the foremost stock-brokers of the 90s: brilliant, ruthless and without much consideration for morals, Belfort founded one of the first chop shop brokerage firms in 1987, which Michael Douglas’s Gordan Gecko so famously represented in Oliver Stone’s Wall Street. He lived the good life complete with trophy wife, more dollars than he could spend (although he tried really hard) and a daily drug consumption worthy of a rock star. Belfort felt untouchable. And indeed he was, until an especially hard-headed FBI-agent and a bit of bad luck threatened to shatter his empire…

The Wolf of Wallstreet is based on Jordan Belfort‘s tell-it-all memoir, and was adapted by Terrence Winter, one of the screenwriters and producers of The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Like any Scorsese film, The Wolf of Wall Street boasts a solid cast. Jonah Hill continues his transformation into a serious character actor, playing Belforts best friend, after having garnered an Academy Award nomination for his work in Moneyball. Best Actor Oscar winner Jean Dujardin also has a small role as an oily Swiss banker. Matthew McConaughey will also continue his transformation from rom-com regular, featuring as Jordan Belfort‘s early mentor Mark Hanna.

The Wolf of Wall Street marks the fifth collaboration between Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio.
