Gael Garca Bernal stars in this unique & award-winning political drama
Closely based on true events, this political underdog story stars Gael Garca Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries) as the bold young advertising executive Ren Saavedra, who embarks on a game-changing political campaign. After military dictator Augusto Pinochet is pressured to transition the country from dictatorship to democracy, he announces a referendum for public vote to determine his political legitimacy. With the ground-breaking idea to market the political decision like any other product, Saavedra begins a radical offensive to oppose Pinochet‘s election to office.
The film features genuine footage from the time and is shot in 4:3 film to maintain a consistent and period-authentic look. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012, where it won the Art Cinema Award.
