Goodfellas meets Wall Street with Martin Scorsese at the helm
Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) was one of the foremost stock-brokers of the 90s: brilliant, ruthless and without much consideration for morals, Belfort founded one of the first chop shop brokerage firms in 1987, which Michael Douglas's Gordan Gecko so famously represented in Oliver Stone's . He lived the good life complete with trophy wife, more dollars than he could spend (although he tried really hard) and a daily drug consumption worthy of a rock star. Belfort felt untouchable. And indeed he was, until an especially hard-headed FBI-agent and a bit of bad luck threatened to shatter his empire...
The Wolf of Wallstreet is based on Jordan Belfort's tell-it-all memoir, and was adapted by Terrence Winter, one of the screenwriters and producers of The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Like any Scorsese film, The Wolf of Wall Street boasts a solid cast. Jonah Hill continues his transformation into a serious character actor, playing Belforts best friend, after having garnered an Academy Award nomination for his work in Moneyball. Best Actor Oscar winner Jean Dujardin also has a small role as an oily Swiss banker. Matthew McConaughey will also continue his transformation from rom-com regular, featuring as Jordan Belfort's early mentor Mark Hanna.
The Wolf of Wall Street marks the fifth collaboration between Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio.
