X-Men: First Class sequel will unite the iconic original with the new cast
The title Days Of Future Past suggests that the film will be based on the comic The Uncanny X-Men, which featured a storyline with that title. The latter is set in an alternative future where all mutants are hunted down by giant robots called Sentinels to be held captive in camps. The X-Men must travel back in time to change the course of history in order to prevent this. The beginning of X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set 11 years after its predecessor.
Matthew Vaughn, director of the successful reboot X-Men: First Class, was originally set to direct again but dropped out in that capacity, although he has stayed on as a producer. Bryan Singer (X-Men and X2: X-Men United) is now the man helming the widely awaited First Class sequel and has stated that the script wont stick completely to the source material.
The 'original' Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen) and their former selves played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender respectively will all feature in the film. Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are also returning to their roles, as is our favorite muscular mutant Hugh Jackman. Game of Throne's Peter Dinklage has also been signed up to make his first appearance in the X-Men franchise.
