Imagine a Mississipi set Mark Twain short story directed by Sam Peckinpah
Mud is a contemporary 'fairytale', about two fourteen year old boys who find an ex-convict named 'Mud' (Matthew McConaughey) hiding out on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. The bored Arkansas teenagers, Ellis (Tye Sheridan) and Neckbone (Jacob Lofland), decide to help the hideaway reunite with his girlfriend Juniper (Reese Witherspoon).
Critically acclaimed director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Shotgun Stories) likened his approach to Mud as if 'Sam Peckinpah directed a short story by Mark Twain.'
The new drama from 'Take Shelter' writer Jeff Nichols reveals a new McConaughey-centric poster. Take a look.
Its completely understandable, yet utterly frustrating: a trailer tells you a certain film is one thing, yet the film turns out to be something different.
