Spike Lee wraps his tentacles around a Korean classic in this Oldboy remake!
In the original , a man kidnapped and imprisoned on his daughters birthday is held captive for fifteen years. Upon his release he embarks on an obsessive mission to find the reason for his imprisonment and soon finds out that his kidnapper has plans for him more tortuous than solitary confinement.
Legendary director Spike Lee (, ) will direct a remake of the critically acclaimed 2003 South Korean film . Originally helmed by Chan-wook Park, the thriller was awarded the Grand Prix of the Jury at the 57th Cannes Film Festival.
Mark Protosevich (, ) will rewrite the script which is promised to be different from the original but will retain the infamous hammer fight and octopus scenes. Sharlto Copley (, ) will play the villain, accompanied by co-stars Josh Brolin () and Elizabeth Olsen (). Familiar Lee collaborator Samuel L. Jackson has also been added to the cast.
