Beloved children's book gets a movie adaptation with Steve Carell!
Based on a classic children's book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day follows young Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) on a day where nothing seems to go his way, from getting in trouble at school, to having a cavity filled, to irritating his dad (Steve Carell) at the office.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was written by Judith Viorst in 1972 and has been a staple on kids' bookshelves ever since.
The comedy was supposed to be directed and adapted for screen by Lisa Cholodenko, who has brought an honest and uplifting perspective to family life before with her Oscar-winning film The Kids Are All Right. Sadly, she left the production.
