Judge Dredd won't take his helmet off in this new, ultra-violent Dredd
In a dystopian future, America has become a shadow of its former glory. Social order has broken down and people live amongst the ruins of the old world. One Mega-City occupies the east cost, enveloping both Boston and Washington DC. In this vast metropolis riddled with violence and chaos, there are only a handful of people left to enforce the law. They are police, judge and executioner in one and they go by the name of The Judges. Among them, no Judge represents the rule of law quite as vigorously as Judge Joseph Dredd (Karl Urban). When the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO swamps the city, Dredd has to take down 'Ma-Ma' Madrigal (Lena Headey) a former prostitute turned drug lord, whose gang deals and produces the drug.
There already exists one adaptation of John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra's comic creation, with Sylvester Stallone starring as Judge Dredd in 1995. The movie was a critical and commercial failure, disappointing fans by making Dredd too human and letting him take off his helmet, which he famously never did in the comics.
