Leonardo DiCaprio brings this vintage detective to the big screen!
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as 'detective' Travis McGee, a self-described beach bum who won his treasured house boat in a card game. Travis is neither a police officer nor a private investigator. But when he sets out to solve a case, he usually gets it done. In this particular instance McGee is out to locate a WWII treasure. We suspect this could be the beginning of a long and prosperous franchise la James Bond.
Travis McGee is based on the 1964 novel The Deep Blue Good-by the first book in a series of 21 novels by American author John D. MacDonald. The screenplay for the mystery was adapted by renowned novelist Dennis Lehane (Mystic River). DiCaprio and Lehane are somewhat old acquaintances when it comes to mystery thrillers: Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island in which Leonardo DiCaprio played the lead role was based on Lehane's eponymous novel.
