The Canyons marks the feature film debut of porn star James Deen. Director Paul Schrader already explored the sexier side of Los Angeles with his 1980's cult classic American Gigolo. The screenplay for The Canyons is written by the controversial novelist Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho).
