The mother of all 3D shooter games to get a big screen adaptation?
A movie adaptation of the celebrated video game Half-Life. The game centers on Gordon Freeman, a MIT-physicist working at Black Mesa, a secret research facility in the desert of New Mexico. When an experiment with alien material goes terribly wrong, the facility is overrun by creatures from another dimension.
Developer Valve's Half-Life movie adaptation has been in plans for many years.
Valve writer Marc Laidlaw has named a few dream candidates that would perfectly fit the director's seat, including Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall), Peter Jackson (The Hobbit) and Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth).
