Following the critical failure of Universal Studio's 2003 live-action adaptation starring Mike Myers, the iconic children's story The Cat In The Hat will once again be adapted for the big-screen. Illumination Studios, the production company behind 2012 Suess adaptation The Lorax, will be undertaking a 3D-animated version of the classic tale, which follows two children whose lives go topsy-turvy when a mysterious, magical cat visits while their mother is out. The project will be overseen by the author's widow, Audrey Geisel, and producer Chris Meledandri who has worked on both The Lorax and Horton Hears a Who, with a script from Rob Lieber, the pen behind another beloved children's book adaptation: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
