Note: This article contains spoilers from Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2, Episode 3 "Shogun."

This week's installment of Legends Of Tomorrow saw both halves of Firestorm — Jefferson Jackson and Professor Stein — discover a secret compartment aboard the Waverider. Despite convincing themselves not to enter the space, they made their way into the room, where they discovered Rip Hunter's secret stash of futuristic weapons. Their initial shock was was immediately overshadowed, however, by the discovery of a message from The Flash himself.

While Jax and Stein were thrilled to see their old friend's name on the uplink list, that fascination turned to shock when they found out that Barry Allen had contacted the Waverider from the year 2056.

Their faces dropped when Allen — who had contacted Rip Hunter — warned Hunter to keep his message a secret from the rest of the Legends. While we were not privy to this secret message, Stein and Jax listened on. But the question is, what does the Flash's message mean for Season 2 of Legends Of Tomorrow?

Is It Responsible For Rip Hunter's Disappearance?

When Rip Hunter saved his crew of Legends by scattering them across time, nobody could figure out what actually happened to him. When the team was reunited by Nate Heywood and Mick Rory, they were still unable to locate their captain. Furthermore, Hunter had recorded a moving final message for the team, bidding them farewell. This somewhat cryptic recording left us with so many questions.

Rip's final message moved us to tears!

Now it's looking like Barry Allen's message from the future may have had something to do with Rip's disappearance. If you look at the evidence, Allen did warn Hunter not to tell the Legends because they couldn't afford to put anyone else at risk. So whatever Rip ended up doing, he didn't want to involve the Legends.

The most important question is: where did Rip Hunter disappear to? Remember, when Professor Stein and Jefferson discussed what they heard, Stein solemnly closed the conversation with "there are some things you can't unsee". This has us on the edges of our seats wondering if it involves Rip's fate, and what happened in 2056.

Is This Eobard Thawne From 2056?

Barry's warning didn't just randomly come from 2056 — there is something significant about that year. While we don't know exactly what that is just yet, I'm guessing we'll find out as the season progresses. One thing worth noting is that this the big bad of this season is the Reverse-Flash, Eobard Thawne. As he is involved, you can expect the Flash to be involved, too.

We do have to wonder, however, which version of Eobard Thawne this is, and where does he come from? Remember the primary version of the character was the big bad of The Flash Season 1 and was erased from existence when his ancestor Eddie killed himself to stop Thawne from ever existing. Moreover, the character returned alive and well in Season 2, and we learnt that this version had never altered the timeline yet and thus, had to be returned to his time to allow things to remain intact. And let's not forget that the character also helped Barry return things to normal after the events of Flashpoint during the Season 3 premiere of The Flash.

So with a whole timeline worth of Eobard Thawnes out there, it's possible that the one altering history in Season 2 of Legends is from 2056. Perhaps his arrival and subsequent teaming with Damien Darhk is what caused Barry to contact Hunter in the first place. And if so, perhaps Hunter has traveled to meet this older Flash and come up with a way of tracking down Thawne.

Something else worth considering is the possibility that Thawne is not from 2056 but that he and the Legion of Doom destroyed it. After all, Barry's message was rather solemn. Perhaps the Flash is reaching out to Rip to help him undo the damage that the Reverse-Flash has done. Time travel is confusing, but it's darn sure effective — something both Eobard Thawne and Barry Allen continue to prove time and again.

Is Allen Warning Of The Dominators' Arrival?

It won't be long until aliens make their official debut in the Arrow-verse when the Dominators arrive in the three part "Invasion!" arc which will see Legends crossing over with #Arrow, #TheFlash and #Supergirl. And with an event as momentous as the first ever alien invasion, we have to wonder if Barry Allen's message was a warning of the alien race's impending arrival.

The Dominators Are Coming: The advanced alien race will be the big bad of the crossover.

How else would the Green Arrow, the Flash and Supergirl get in contact with the Legends who are currently travelling through the timestream? Perhaps Barry's message from the future is the only way to make contact with Hunter. And, let's face it, it's going to take a heck of a lot of #superheroes to take down the advanced alien race — something we found out in the recent Season 2 trailer of Legends which revealed Supergirl joining her Arrow-verse heroes on a rooftop as they look into the sky, presumably waiting for the Dominators to arrive.

If these superheroes are indeed aware of the aliens's arrival before they enter the earth's atmosphere, perhaps it could be down to Allen's message from the future? Could the Flash have forewarned of the invasion, and perhaps told Hunter to track down the other heroes, including Supergirl from her Earth? If this is the case, perhaps we might find out before or during the CW's major #TV superhero crossover event.

This week's episode of Legends Of Tomorrow has left us with more questions than answers. Everyone's favorite scarlet speedster has sure given us a lot to think about, especially Professor Stein and Jax who now must consider if they should tell their fellow crew members. Whether it helps them track down their missing captain, prepares them for the alien invasion or informs them of who their time rogue adversary really is, I have a feeling that it's going to be one heck of a reveal.
