It's official! Mary Poppins Returns, the live-action adaptation of the 1964 Disney classic, will be released on December 25, 2018. You may want to hold out on any Christmas parties that year. So, who would we want to spend our holidays with? In other words: Who should be cast?

Rob Marshall will be directing the movie, and a couple of roles have already been cast. Emily Blunt will be taking on Julie Andrews's role as the famous Mary Poppins. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the legendary Broadway star and creator of the musical Hamilton will be co-starring with Blunt. Miranda will be playing the role of a new character, a street lamplighter named Jack.

The movie's setting will follow the books by taking place in London during the Depression. The plot will revolve around the siblings Jane and Michael Banks, who are now all grown up. Michael has three children, but the entire family suffers a personal loss. That is why Mary Poppins pops in for a visit with Jack, and the two will work together to help the Banks family rediscover the life of umbrella-flying and magic finger-snapping.

Mary Poppins allows people to dream, so let's. Who do we wish to cast?

Jane Banks — Amanda Seyfried

Originally played by Karen Dotrice, the grown-up Jane Banks should be played by none other than Amanda Seyfried. She has proven herself time and again that she can hold her own in a musical. We've seen her deliver outstanding musical performances in Les Miserables and Mamma Mia. She's most definitely qualified for the role.

Michael Banks — Jude Law

The role of Michael Banks, Jane's little brother, was played by Matthew Garber in 1964. Jude Law has previewed his singing capabilities in Wilde and his face kind of resembles Michael Banks. Also, he has a genuine English accent.

The Banks Children — The Tremblay Siblings

Jakob, Erica, and Emma Tremblay are all child actors with talent. They would be a perfect fit for Michael Banks's three children. Jakob Tremblay, age 9, won multiple awards after taking on a serious role in the movie Room. Emma Tremblay, the eldest of the three, is most known for her role in The Judge. Erica Tremblay, the youngest of the siblings, is known for A Perfect Wedding.

Bert — Jim Broadbent

We do not know if Bert will appear on the sequel, but we sure hope he does! The original role was played by Dick Van Dyke, who gave the character a crazy look of amusement that we've seen in Jim Broadbent. Despite the fact that Poppins is cast as a young Emily Blunt, it would come as no surprise if the woman never aged while everyone else did. Besides, after Moulin Rouge, there's no hating on the English actor's voice.

Mr. Banks — Michael Caine

David Tomlinson played Mr. Banks, a very serious and strict character. Michael Kaine is the perfect older Englishman. He looks just as good as Mr. Banks did in a suit and has appeared in many different film genres, including the Batman and Miss Congeniality franchises.

Mrs. Banks — Julie Andrews

While it might create a bit of confusion, Julie Andrews simply must make an appearance in the remake. She could easily do by taking on Glynis Johns's former role. Just because her role was given to Emily Blunt, that doesn't mean she can't at least have a smaller role — she deserves it more than anyone.

We have no way to know which characters will remain, let alone who will be cast to play their part. We can only hope.
