Warning: This article contains spoilers from American Horror Story: Roanoke.

American Horror Story created a terrifying new world with its Roanoke season and there are still many twists in store for fans as the show heads into its final few episodes. With the fictional documentary My Roanoke Nightmare now concluded, the re-enactors and their real life counterparts have taken part in Return to Roanoke — a chilling reality series that sees them move into the Roanoke farmhouse during the Blood Moon but only one of them will make it out alive.

Check out some of the most messed up moments from American Horror Story so far:

Roanoke has done a great job at connecting several of the AHS seasons together, specifically the connection between Roanoke's Edward Phillipe Mott and Freak Show's Dandy Mott. It has also been confirmed that Scathach the witch is the original Supreme, tying Roanoke to Coven. More recently, series creator Ryan Murphy announced that Asylum character Lana Winters will be returning before the conclusion of Roanoke, which is clearly suggesting her involvement in the Return to Roanoke series.

In less than ten episodes, Roanoke has connected every season of American Horror Story together and essentially built a shared AHS universe. Murphy also said that we would see "many, many, many" characters from the past pop up. With that in mind, let's take a look at some previous #AHS characters that we could see pop up before Roanoke concludes.

1. Cordelia Foxx

Appearances: Coven

Why They Could They Appear In Roanoke: She's already playing Audrey Tindall and had previously played a re-enacted version of Shelby Miller — with Lana Winters returning, why not have another Sarah Paulson character appear? One can never have enough of Paulson's excellence. That aside, Coven ended with Cordelia Foxx becoming the "one true Supreme" of the New Orleans witches coven, meaning that she holds all of the power.

With Murphy's confirmation that Scathach is the original Supreme, maybe Cordelia will have to visit Scathach now that her story has aired to viewers all over the nation on My Roanoke Nightmare.

2. The Countess

Appearances: Hotel

Why They Could Appear In Roanoke: Although there has been no immediate connection made between Roanoke and Hotel, the recent confirmation that Coven and Murder House will crossover confirms that Coven exists in the same universe as Murder House/Hotel and since Coven and Roanoke are linked that means that Roanoke and Hotel are also connected.

It has been suggested before that Lady Gaga's The Countess — seen in Hotel — could exist within the Roanoke universe because Lee told the viewers of My Roanoke Nightmare that her first daughter Emily had vanished years ago after being left in a car. This is a scarily similar story of Holden's disappearance in Hotel — The Countess would often kidnap children and turned them into blood-thirsty ageless vampires so it's entirely possible that the character could feature in a Roanoke flashback. Gaga has been absent from the series since My Roanoke Nightmare came to an end, so having the Countess re-appear would make perfect sense.

3. Zoe Benson

Appearances: Coven

Why They Could Appear In Roanoke: Zoe was one of the witches in the New Orleans' coven and she was by Cordelia's side for the final moments of the witch-centered season. If anyone was likely to come to the farmhouse alongside Cordelia, it would be Zoe — especially since Cordelia's other right hand girl Queenie was murdered in her minor appearance on Hotel.

Actress Taissa Farmiga is slated to appear later in the season in a mystery role and while some believe she could be playing the real life versions of Scathach or Priscilla, perhaps a return for Zoe could be on the cards.

4. Jimmy Darling

Appearances: Freak Show

Why They Could Appear On Roanoke: When Freak Show ended, very little of the "freaks" were actually alive. One of the only characters to get their happy ending was Evan Peters' Jimmy Darling who ended up living with siamese twins Bette and Dot Tattler. Considering the Roanoke connection to Freak Show — and the fact that Jimmy hated Dandy Mott, playing a huge role in his murder — then perhaps Darling could re-appear? As Freak Show took place in 1952, Darling would be much older now if he were still living.

Also, Roanoke received a lot of criticism for the fact that both of Evan Peters' Roanoke characters met a grisly end. Peters has only appeared in two episodes (as two different characters) despite being listed as a series regular so a return for Jimmy Darling would definitely seem plausible for this reason alone.

5. Billie Dean Howard

Appearances: Murder House, Hotel

Why They Could Appear on Roanoke: Another of Sarah Paulson's characters, Billie Dean Howard is one of the only characters to hold the prestigious honor of appearing on multiple seasons of the show. After making her first appearance in Murder House, Howard popped up again in Hotel.

The character is a medium and as the Roanoke farmhouse is full of evil supernatural spirits, perhaps her expertise will be called upon to silence the deadly ghosts once and for all after news breaks about what happened to the Return to Roanoke participants. At this rate, Paulson will be playing every role on the show. Just give her a damn Emmy for AHS already.

6. Constance Langdon

Appearances: Murder House

Why They Could Appear In Roanoke: Constance was the first character that Jessica Lange played, and let's be honest, we fell in love with her then and there. The role led to Lange winning her first Emmy for the show and the character was one that we loved to hate.

The main reason that we could see Constance pop up is because Murder House is the only season that ended on a huge cliffhanger — Constance had Vivien's anti-Christ baby in her possession. Murphy suggested in the past that this storyline would be pursued n the future so it's possible that we could see Constance appear in Roanoke. If anything we'd be grateful to get Jessica Lange back as any one one her wonderful characters. Lange departed from the show following Freak Show's conclusion and is currently filming Ryan Murphy's new FX drama Feud alongside Sarah Paulson.

There may only be a limited number of episodes of Roanoke left but with all of the dots beginning to join, it look like Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have their sights set on building one massive shared universe for American Horror Story. Murphy is a #TV revolutionary and although the idea of joining all of the previous seasons may seem confusing, it would certainly be a missed opportunity if the showrunners didn't try. As the #horror of Roanoke comes to an end, it's entirely possible that we will see some more familiar faces pop up throughout, but who will be next in line? Only time will tell.
