The day someone green-lights a Marvel Zombies Ghibli film directed by Xavier Dolan is the day I will be happy. Any day now...

With just two weeks left before Season Six of American Horror Story finally hits our screens, it appears as though we finally know the theme ,and it's probably not what you expect.

After releasing over 20 teaser trailers, only one of which is reportedly genuine, Rotten Tomatoes updated the shows page earlier this week with a new subtitle naming Season Six as The Mist.

While there has been no official confirmation from FX to confirm how genuine this report could be, it's business as usual on American Horror Story's social media accounts, as the show runners have released another teaser today, which could be the most terrifying yet.

What's The Trailer About?

Opening in a dark room, the camera zooms in on a doll perched atop a rocking chair. Aside from some creepy child-like music, the teaser starts innocently enough: That is, until we move closer to the doll's face.

Like most things in American Horror Story, there's more to the doll than meets the eye. This quickly becomes apparent when a human-like mouth appears and disturbingly begins to open and close while her freaky eyes look towards the camera.

It's surprising that dolls haven't appeared prominently on the show before to be honest. After all, this classic horror trope is easily one of the most unnerving of all, so let's hope some Annabelle wannabes feature at some point in the near future.

Could This Trailer Reveal The Theme For Season Six?

If The Mist really is the theme for Season Six, then this trailer clearly has zero relevance to what we'll see when American Horror Story returns on September 14, but there's still a chance that this freaky ass doll could provide some clues.

After all, show runner Ryan Murphy confirmed a while back that a child theme would be key to Season Six, so it's understandable that doll imagery could feature at some point in future episodes.

Furthermore, the clear homage here to classic evil doll films like Child's Play and more recently, The Conjuring, could potentially link with the American Horror Story: Hollywood fan theory that's currently circulating around. Most of the teasers reference classic horror movies in some capacity, which has led may to speculate that Season Six may explore behind the scenes of a glamorous movie set in Hollywood.

However, there's also a chance that the shows creators may simply be trying to throw us off the scent, 'mist-directing' us from the true theme for Season Six. Either way though, we'll find out soon enough when American Horror Story returns to our screens on September 14.

In the meantime, check out this video of the shows most disturbing moments, which fortunately don't feature any more evil dolls, yet.

What do you think the theme for Season Six of American Horror Story will be? And more importantly, is this the creepiest doll you've ever seen?
