It's the end of an era!
It looks like Hollywood's most powerful couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, are going their separate ways. According to TMZ, Angelina has filed for divorce, breaking the internet — and everyone's hearts in the process. They became Brangelina on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and since then, they have raised the bar of what we expect from a Hollywood power couple.
With the news of their apparent divorce crushing every movie fan out there, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still very much #relationshipgoals in our books. It may be coming to an end, but this pair juggled 6 kids, working together, illness and intense humanitarian work for 12 happy years! Here is a callback to better days, when Brangelina made us all swoon and re-evaluate our relationship goals.
1. They Brought Sexy Back
Angelina has been considered the gold standard of beauty, while Brad has been dubbed the sexiest man alive for years. Separately, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were the sexiest starts in Hollywood, and them getting together set the world on fire. Although both Brad and Angelina had some really famous partners before they met, every Brangelina appearance on the red carpet made us instantly forget Billy Bob Thornton and Jennifer Aniston even existed.
2. They Loved PDA
It takes both maturity and confidence in a relationship to publicly display one's affections, and Brangelina never seemed to have a problem with that. What's more, the couple's best displays of affection come from moments in which they weren't posing for any cameras — which just strengthened our belief that Brangelina's love story was forever. They snuck kisses, held hands, were constantly in arms' reach of each other. They made sure that people understood that when you love someone, there's no reason not to show it!

When Angelina was filming Lara Croft in 2001, she witnessed the humanitarian problems in Cambodia — since then, has been deeply engaged in helping the refugees around the globe. She's even released a book about her experiences on over 40 field missions. In 2012, she was made special envoy to the UNHCR as a Goodwill Ambassador. Brad began his involvement with humanitarian and political causes in 2004, and just two years later he flew with Angelina to Haiti to visit a charity-supported school.
Together, the couple founded the Jolie-Pitt Foundation in 2006 which aims to help humanitarian causes around the planet. The foundation donated over $2.4 million in its first year alone, and aided in the aftermath of Haiti earthquake with a $1 million donation.
4. They Took Parenting To Another Level
Brad and Angelina have six children together — three are adopted, and three are their own. Maddox, the oldest one, was adopted by Angelina when she was still in her prior relationship with Thornton, but Brad later formally adopted him as well. On both occasions in which Angelina gave birth to their biological children — Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne — they sold the babies' first pictures and donated the profits to charities. The children learn about the world's culture, and each studies their language of choice. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Angelina offered some insight on hers and Brad's parenting skills:
Although Brad's parenting style has come under fire in the rumors surrounding the divorce, everything we've seen from the Jolie-Pitts so far suggests they raise their children in a nurturing, open-minded way.
5. They Faced Their Fears Together
In 2013, Angelina underwent a preventive double mastectomy, after doctors predicted she had an 87% risk of breast cancer. The decision came from Angelina's own experience of losing her mother to cancer, and not wanting her children to go through the same loss anytime soon. As a love and supporting husband, Brad proudly explained Angelina did it for the family and with no regards to vanity.
The Brangelina divorce comes after months of speculation that the couple were going through a rough patch in their marriage. Angelina filed for divorced due to "irreconcilable differences", but there are rumors that Brad has been unfaithful. Only last year the couple co-starred in By the Sea, a movie in which they played a couple facing a hard time in their marriage due to infidelity and alcohol abuse. Angelina, who also wrote, produced and directed the film denied suggestions that the movie was an autobiographical one. But, now seeing Brangelina's fate, it's fair to assume the couple hasn't been on cloud nine for a while.
As for Brad Pitt, his sentiment, in a statement to People Magazine, echoes all of ours:
Well said, Mr. Pitt. We wish both Brad and Angelina all the best for the future.
