After 40 years of keeping it hidden deep within, actress #CarrieFisher has finally opened up regarding a secret she's kept for nearly as long as she's been a film star. You might remember her first big feature. She starred in this little sci-fi film called #StarWars in 1977. During that time, she apparently stoked the flames of passion and began what could only be described as a diehard fan's nerdiest dream finally come true with Harrison Ford.

While speaking to People Magazine, Fisher revealed that during the filming of the original chapter in 1976, she and her on-screen love interest, #HarrisonFord, engaged in an 'intense' on- and off-screen affair. Those of us who recall their obvious chemistry on the silver screen are hardly surprised by this news. In her interview, as a little treat to the fans, she explained:

“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend."

It was how Fisher described the affair between the two that's really getting fans all hot and bothered. It was a real life romance between two beloved heroes of the franchise who fought their feelings for a long time. This was the ship that fans had been praying and wishing for ever since the first "I love you" was uttered in #TheEmpireStrikesBack.

The relationship is being documented in Fisher's forthcoming book, The Princess Diarist. The book details the many aspects of Fisher's formative years when she kept journals. When writing about the time she spent with Ford, Fisher gave very few, but rather surprising details.

“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” she writes. “How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”

Even before the book was put together, Fisher took extra care to make sure Ford knew well ahead of its intended release. And although the romance came to a disappointing end once the film finished shooting, Fisher recalls it fondly and with nothing but respect and admiration for her dear friend Harrison Ford.

“I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind.”

There you have it, fans. Harrison Ford is the gentleman every single one of us hoped he was. And although the relationship between the two never amounted to anything as long lasting as their on-screen counterparts, we can all take solace in the fact that it did happen in more than just our vivid imaginations.
