Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is about to be unleashed on theaters nationwide and will introduce a whole new era of the Wizarding World to Potterheads everywhere. This, of course, is no small undertaking, and #FantasticBeasts star Ezra Miller thought it wise to seek some advice from former Harry Potter alum when he learned he was up for a role in this new chapter of J.K. Rowling's ever-expanding universe.
Miller will play Credence Barebone, leader of the New Salem Philanthropic Society, a No-Maj (Muggle) anti-witchcraft group. Little is known about his character in the movie, but when he learned he was up for the part, he spoke the beloved Harry Potter veteran Emma Watson about what to expect from the Wizarding World — and what it's like to work with #HarryPotter director David Yates.
Speaking about Yates at the Fantastic Beasts' New York junket earlier this week, the actor said:
"When I first met him, I was like, wow this guy is extraordinarily chill, I wonder if that remains the case when the going gets tough on a major motion picture production."
To answer his queries, Miller reached out to friend and former co-star Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in all eight Potter movies and worked with Yates for four of them. The #BeautyandTheBeast star calmed his fears, and explained that Yates was a true pro:
"She [Emma Watson] was one of the first people I called when this happened, and I asked, 'does he really remain so zen through the process of making a film'? And she said, 'it’s hard to believe, but yes.' She said, 'I’ve never heard his voice go above a certain number of decibels, because he really is disciplined and centered."

The paired starred together in the 2012 movie adaption of Stephen Chbosky's iconic Perks of Being a Wallflower, so it's awesome to see that they have stayed in touch, and can ask for advice and help on upcoming projects. Miller continued to share how thrilled he was to be part of the expanded Harry Potter universe, and how excited he is for everyone to see it:
"The feeling of having a J.K. Rowling work on your email that no one else has read except for a handful of people was thrilling, to say the least. As a Harry Potter fan, I’m extremely excited because I get how this brand new story ties into the broader wizarding world."
We'll see if Emma's advice has paid off when Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them hits theaters November 18. Let's hope if Emma is cast in any superhero movies in the future, she will know to seek advice from our new Flash!
