With only a matter of days until the Season 3 premiere of The Flash, the anticipation is higher than ever. With the show exploring the uncharted territory of the Flashpoint world, the introduction of Harry Potter alumni Tom Felton and a four-show crossover — not to mention a musical crossover with Supergirl — it's looking like Season 3 may be the best one yet! And now to increase our excitement, The CW have been kind enough to release a brand new trailer for the show.
While a lot of the story is similar to the previous trailer, this time we actually get to envision a lot more of Barry interactions with the Flashpoint characters, as well as getting to see more of Kid Flash and the Rival. Furthermore, it reveals more about the effects of Flashpoint not just on the world, but on Barry himself.
We Will See The Continuation Of The Season 2 Finale
At the end of the Season 2 finale, Barry traveled back to that fateful night when the Reverse-Flash killed his mother and changed his life forever. However, this time, he saved his mother and altered the timeline significantly. When we discovered that the show would mirror the comics and recreate the iconic Flashpoint storyline, we wondered just how much of the show would be affected and how they would explain it. I also found myself wondering if we would see a time jump or if Season 3 would pick up where Season 2 left off.
Well it looks like we will get to see what happens after Barry saved his mother, as the trailer reveals the Flash picking up what is presumably the knocked out Reverse-Flash before speeding off with him, leaving a stunned Nora Allen in his wake. So while we will indeed revisit that iconic night one more time, the only question now is — what's next?
Barry And Iris Are Meant To Be
Though they didn't grow up as childhood friends, it seems like Iris is instantly attracted to Barry in this timeline — even if she can't remember his name. While it may have taken her all season to figure out his true identity in the main timeline, it looks like she deduces it in a single episode in the Flashpoint world. And this makes her even more connected to him, as she is there to console him about his worries in the new timeline.
The first trailer alluded to them becoming more than friends very quickly, and this trailer seems to solidify that as she is once again all googly-eyed when talking to him. Furthermore, she backs him up and manages to convince Kid Flash to team up with him because "he's the Flash" — which sounds incredibly badass and has me really excited to see her say that. The timeline may have changed but West-Allen lives!

Two Flashes Are Better Than One
By now, most us are aware that the Flash of this this new world will be Wally West's Kid Flash. However, knowing Barry Allen, this likely wouldn't be enough to stop him from saving people, no matter how hard he tries. And now, it looks like one of his first saves might indeed be the yellow speedster himself. Barry sees Kid Flash speeding up a building, but it seems like things may not go Wally's way as Barry ends up using his arms to perform the vortex trick he learned from Dr. Wells to break his fall.
Moreover, there will definitely be an interesting dynamic between both Wally and Barry as the former doesn't take too kindly to being called "Kid-Flash," laughing at Barry before telling him not to call him that. Furthermore, he also seems to have trouble teaming up when he informs Barry that "the Flash doesn't follow anyone." However, it appears that the two will manage to put their differences aside when they end up taking on The Rival together, united as one. It's true what they say: Two Flashes are better than one. And it looks like the Rival is going to find that out the hard way.
Team Flash Will Reunite — Sort Of
With the timeline being totally reset, we all found ourselves wondering what relationships would be affected. While we saw from the first trailer that Barry will not have the same relationship with Joe but still might find love with Iris, we didn't know what would happen to Team Flash. All we knew was that Cisco Ramon is a billionaire and Wally West is Kid Flash while Dr. Wells was mysteriously absent and Caitlin made a blink-and-you-might-miss-it cameo.
Well, with the Flashpoint world worrying Barry so much and the looming threat of the Rival, it looks like he is once again going to force things to happen much like he did when he upset the timeline in Season 1. After apparently revealing his true identity to Cisco, Wally and Iris, he brings Caitlin to S.T.A.R. Labs — it's not kidnapping if you know them in an alternate timeline, right? And just like that, the gang is back together to help Barry Allen in his time of need. Just like old times, eh?
The Return Of The Tornado
While two Flashes may be better than one, it looks like two tornadoes are set to be more destructive than one, as the trailer revealed what looks like two of them heading towards the city with Iris looking on horrified.
On an interesting note, this could be a little nod to the pilot episode. Remember that Barry's first outing as the Flash saw him stop Weather Wizard by unraveling a tornado. Perhaps this could be a symbolic resetting of the show that sees The Flash and Kid Flash each unraveling a tornado each. It would certainly be an awesome sight!
Will Barry Forget His Past Life?
We were all aware that Barry's actions would have side effects, and in the new trailer we actually get to see how they manifest. Not only will Flashpoint have major effects on the world he lives in, but it seems like it will also severely impact Barry himself as he begins to forget his former life. The side effects are so bad that Barry has to go to his imprisoned former mentor turned archenemy, the Reverse-Flash, for help.
From the trailer, it appears that the new timeline will begin to affect Barry's daily life, including when he is in battle with The Rival and when he's having a moment with Iris. With important memories being affected, including his mother's death and his father's imprisonment, will Barry ultimately forget his old life or make the heartbreaking choice of reversing his actions? Or will he find a way to maintain his old memories and his new life with his parents?
With the season premiere quickly approaching, the CW couldn't have picked a better time to release this brand new trailer for Season 3 of The Flash. It's looking like a lot will have changed due to Barry decision to save his mother last season. But now it also seems as though Barry will be the one most affected by the changed timeline and will struggle with making an impossible choice. Furthermore, with a new Flash, new threats, more tornadoes and the reuniting of his friends to deal with, Season 3 of The Flash may be Barry Allen's craziest year yet!
