The new trailer for #KongSkullIsland has dropped, and it's full of surprises. One of those surprises is the appearance of John C. Reilly, who will no doubt be bringing a lighter, comedic tone to the film.

Reilly appears to play an eccentric American living among the natives of Skull Island. He's incredibly knowledgeable on Kong and the lore of the island, and looks to be a central character to the story.

Fans of Reilly's much, much earlier work may recall his bizarre performance as Dr. Steve Brule on a little Adult Swim show called Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! Undoubtedly one of the weirdest things to ever air on the network, the show ended in 2010, but has remained forever in the hearts of its weird cult following. But it seems that Dr. Brule isn't gone forever— he lives on through this clever reference in Kong:

Notice the lettering on the back of Reilly's jacket is strikingly similar to Dr. Steve Brule's signature catchphrase:

I guess that explains what happened to Brule after Awesome Show ended. Good to see he's moved on to bigger things— it didn't seem like the medical world was really working out for him.
