Only four days after the third, and final, Rogue One trailer was released, the official Star Wars Twitter account has dropped brand new character posters, offering a better look at the stars of the film.

Along with the poster, the tweets offer a brief character description that offers some insight into the Rebels and the villainous Orson Krennic. But first, let's watch that Rogue One trailer again. Because...well, just because.

Now that I can catch my breath again, let's take a look at these new posters, shall we?

The Character Posters

  • Who: Jyn Erso
  • Affiliation: Rebel Alliance

"Jyn Erso. A checkered past. A greater cause."

Maybe a stretch here, but I'm getting a real "former criminal recruited to a noble cause" vibe here similar to what we got with Scott Lang in Ant-Man. Just saying.

  • Who: Cassian Andor
  • Affiliation: Rebel Alliance

"Cassian Andor. An intelligence officer for the Rebel Alliance."

Is anyone else thinking he'll possibly be Rogue One's answer to Poe Dameron in terms of how much the audience loves him?

  • Who: Chirrut Imwe
  • Affiliation: Initially unclear, but appears to help the Rebel Alliance

"Chirrut Imwe. A warrior monk with faith in the Force."

Donnie Yen's character has been one of the most speculated upon, and might become the biggest badass of the entire movie.

Just saying. He doesn't even need a lightsaber to take out an entire team of stormtroopers.

  • Who: Baze Malbus
  • Affiliation: Rebel Alliance

"Baze Malbus. Soldier. Friend."

Steady as she goes appears to be the case with Baze Malbus. We can expect him to be loyal no matter what, if not to the cause, then at least to his friends.

  • Who: Bodhi Rook
  • Affiliation: Rebel Alliance (previously the Empire)

"Bodhi Rook. Former Imperial pilot who's seen the light."

Okay, so maybe he's going to be the Poe Dameron-esque character here. Or maybe, since he's since turned against the Imperial Army, he's more of a Finn.

  • Who: K-2SO
  • Affiliation: Rebel Alliance (previously the Empire)

"K-2SO. Reprogrammed to fight the Empire that made him."

Because it wouldn't be a Star Wars movie if there weren't a lovable and heroic droid. Come to think of it, has there ever been an evil droid?

  • Who: Saw Gerrera
  • Affiliation: Rebel Alliance

"Saw Gerrera. Resolved to win the fight against the Empire."

We know quite a bit about Saw, thanks to him already having appeared in The Clone Wars. However, since his time there, he's clearly been through brutal battles. Despite it all, he fully believes in the Rebel cause.

  • Who: Director Orson Krennic
  • Affiliation: The Empire

"Director Orson Krennic. Cruel. Brilliant. Obsessed."

Krennic represents an entirely new kind of villain in the Star Wars universe, and Ben Mendelsohn should bring an amazing performance to the role.

What Can We Learn From The Posters?

The character descriptions offer some insight into the ragtag crew of Rebels, showing us that two of the crew were actually former members of the Imperial Empire.

Bodhi Rook has been described as a former pilot for the Imperial Army who has now seen the light. It will be interesting to see how the team interact with Rook as he is a former member of the Empire. It is also interesting to note that while everyone has blue prints for the Death Star superimposed on their face, Rook seems to have the entire Death Star printed across his face. Could this be a possible foreshadow of betrayal or a sacrifice, perhaps?

The other member of the Rebels who is a former member of the Imperial Empire is K-2SO, the droid of Rogue One. His description confirms that he is in fact reprogrammed from being an Imperial droid and will now fight against the order that created him. It appears that K-2SO could be the Rebels' ace in the hole. Being a former droid of the Empire, K-2SO could be holding information that is vital to their mission, similar to BB-8 in The Force Awakens.

This will most likely be the final marketing material we receive from Rogue One until late November or early December when Disney begin to release TV spots and promotional material to promote the December 16th release of the film.
