Actor and comedian Brett Gelman has just joined Sean Austin, Paul Reiser and Linnear Berthelsen as the latest edition to the cast of the highly anticipated #StrangerThings2. As we know so little about the #Netflix show, every morsel of new information may give us an idea what will happen in the season — and Gelman's casting may offer us further clues of what to expect.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of Gelman's casting, stating that he will play an ex journalist-turned-conspiracy theorist:
Gelman will play Murray Bauman, a disgraced journalist-turned-conspiracy theorist who is investigating a cold case in Hawkins.
It's not surprising that Hawkins has attracted all sorts of conspiracy nuts — it's not every day that a kid vanishes into thin air and then is found in a demon dimension. But the question is...
Which Cold Case Is Bauman Investigating?
Okay, so there are a whole lot of people that Bauman could be investigating, but my bet is one red-haired angel by the name of Barb. With the outrage surrounding the careless nature of Barb's death, it would make sense that her disappearance (because as far as your average Joe in Hawkins is aware, she's just missing) wasn't wasn't simply tossed aside — this too would attract attention from conspiracy theorists. Remind yourself once more of why we need #JusticeForBarb:
Secondly, when a whole team of shady CIA-sanctioned research programmers — possibly including Brenner/Papa — are slaughtered in a High School by a terrifying Monster, that's also bound to draw some attention. I guess this kind of mayhem warrants a follow up investigation, right?

Finally, what about poor Benny Hammond? He was probably the first man to ever show Eleven true kindness, and he was shot on the temple by Agent Fraizer for his trouble. It's unlikely that this death was investigated at all thanks to the project's influence — creating a cold case if there ever was one.
Brett Gelman is well known for his work with Adult Swim — creating and starring in shows such as Eagleheart and Dinner with Family with Brett Gelman. He recently broke ties with the network, citing that the network's sexist behavior as the reason, partly based on the fact that 47 new writers were hired and not one of them was female. The comedian has also starred and guested in a plethora of popular TV series', including Mad Men, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Adventure Time.
Stranger Things Season 2 will air on Netflix sometime in 2017. In the meantime, let's try and figure out what those pesky episode titles could mean!
