Putting together such a captivating story like that seen in #TheWalkingDead is no small feat, and it take an enormous team to pull it off. From the talented actors, directors, special effects artists and more, a quick look at the the full credits for the Season 7 premiere is enough to prove the mammoth effort that goes into the show.
Another team who are key to putting together a cohesive episode of television are the storyboard artists who map out the episodes frame by frame. Luckily for us, Entertainment Weekly has obtained the storyboards of an entire scene from Episode 1, which shows just how exactly the show followed the initial vision.
Take a look below at the 21 storyboard pages from the harrowing scene involving Negan forcing Rick to retrieve his axe:
Pages 1 And 2
After stumbling out the door of the RV, Rick finds himself in smokey surroundings among walkers.
Pages 3 And 4
Rick fights his way through the walkers and eventually finds the ladder to the roof of the RV.
Pages 5 And 6
As he fights his way to the roof, walkers attempt to eat his foot.
Pages 7 And 8
Rick manages to get to safety and realizes the RV has stopped at the burning road stop set up by the Saviors during Season 6, Episode 16. Turning around, he's confronted with the hanging reanimated body of the Saviors last victim.
Pages 9 And 10
Overcome with the emotion and intensity of seeing members of his group murdered before his eyes and the hopelessness of the situation he finds himself in, Rick collapses.
