Walking Dead Season 7 News, Rumors & Updates
In an interview with The Wrap, the president and CEO of AMC, Josh Sapan, has talked about the possibility of The Walking Dead continuing for years to come, likening it to the 50 year run of Star Trek. Speaking about the longevity of the series, Sapan said:
“[The Walking Dead] has incredible long life left in it... [Star Trek] came and went three times. We do think that we have a franchise [in The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead] that is one of the rare franchises that you occasionally come across in what we do for a living.”
What do you think, will The Walking Dead franchise be around for generations?
An EW interview with Greg Nicotero has been released, and in it he spoke about the surprise at the fan anger over the Season 6 cliffhanger. However, in doing so, he may have accidentally confirmed a leading fan theory about who Negan killed. Speaking about the reaction that fans had to the cliffhanger, he said:
But I’d say in retrospect, I don’t think we would have changed anything. I would have still supported doing it the way that we did it, because of the fact that the story doesn’t end there. If we would have shown the deaths, then they wouldn’t have felt our characters in season 7 the way they need to.
Did Nicotero just confirm the fan theory that two characters (most likely Glenn and Abraham) die at the hands of Negan? It sure looks like it!
In addition, we know that the production sought permission to film on a local beach for the first time - a totally new setting for the series. And there was also recent casting call for an androgynous leader-type character. This has fueled speculation that the show will either introduce a comic character earlier than expected, or is perhaps creating a totally new character.

The Walking Dead spinoff
Not so much The Walking Dead spinoff as The Walking Dead's companion series, Fear the Walking Dead is currently on its second season. The series is set in the same universe as The Walking Dead, however focusses on an entirely different group of survivors and an entirely different environment (the show started out in LA before moving south to Mexico).
Not only does Fear the Walking Dead focus on a different group, but it's also in a different timeframe. While The Walking Dead started 60 days into the zombie apocalypse, when Rick woke from a coma, Fear the Walking Dead started just after Day 0, when the apocalypse was at its very beginning.
The Walking Dead Comic Book
Long before it was a TV series, The Walking Dead was a hit comic series! Created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, the series began in 2003 with Issue 1, and since then has been released at a rate of one issue per month for a current total of 157 issues.
