(WARNING: The following contains both video footage from the upcoming Doctor Strange, and some — SPOILER-protected — discussion of exactly what it means in the context of the movie. Proceed with whatever level of caution the all-seeing eye of Agamotto suggests is wise, all the same.)

Now, there are a whole lot of reasons to be excited for the imminent release of #Marvel's #DoctorStrange, not least of them the fact that it's a movie featuring Doctor Strange, one of the most fan-beloved figures in comic book-dom. As such, it's no real surprise that fans the world over have been clamoring for details about which classic elements of Strange-ian lore will be making an appearance in the movie.

Which, in turn, makes it all the more exciting that...

This New Doctor Strange Trailer Seems To Feature Dormammu

Yup, that's right. The dread #Dormammu, of long-time comic book infamy. Who, if that there trailer is to be believed, might just have made his first promo appearance relating to Doctor Strange itself. Y'see, at around about the 0:41 mark, it's possible to spot a certain blurry visage:

One that, as it happens, seems to bear a passing resemblance to the comic book Dormammu, only somewhat less aflame:

The big question that raises, though?

Is That Really Dormammu?

After all, while the face certainly does bear a passing resemblance to the comic book Dormammu, it's by no means an exact doppelgänger. As such, it seemed worth taking a closer look at exactly what having seen the movie tells us about whether or not that is, in fact, Dormammu. Note: SPOILERS abound if you click the box below.

In a turn of events that will likely surprise hardly anyone, that is indeed Dormammu. He largely appears only towards the end of the movie, but plays a central part in absentia throughout proceedings, and may yet influence the future of the MCU as a whole.

And so, there you have it. If you're still hankering for some Strange-ian fun, though, the film arrives in US theaters in just a few short days.

In the meantime, though, what do you think? What do you think the cinematic future holds for Strange and his assorted comic book foes? Let us know below!
