Have realised my dream of finally living in Berlin. I like movies, techno, and talking too much in bars.

2016 has been a great year for breakout roles. Whether it's Scott Eastwood in Suicide Squad, Riz Ahmed in HBO series The Night Of, or Nate Parker in Birth Of A Nation — who has become even more famous for the wrong reasons — we have seen plenty of excellent performances to get really excited about. Yet it's easy to spot a star after they have broke out into the mainstream. A far more pernickety task is to predict one.

Nevertheless, we here at Movie Pilot never like to back away from a challenge, so we're sticking our next out and rounding up seven actors we believe could have what it takes to be the stars of 2017. Some might do badly, others may go on to stratospheric success, but just remember: if they do, you heard it here first...

1. Bella Heathcote

  • Who Is She?

Bela Heathcote is a 29-year-old Australian actress who first made her name on the popular daytime soap Neighbours.

  • What's She Been In?

After Neighbours she made her name in the Justin Timberlake vehicle In Time and Nicholas Winding-Refn fever dream Neon Demon.

  • Why She's Going To Be Huge

Her next role is as Leila Williams in Fifty Shades Darker, which recently dropped its trailer. Williams is of crucial importance to the Fifty Shades Franchise, as she is one of Christian Grey's ex-submissives who comes to terrorise Ana (Dakota Johnson) once she hears news of their relationship. Given that its the highest grossing sex film of all time, the sequel could see fans titillated for what Heathcote does next.

2. Zendaya

  • Who Is She?

Zendaya is a multi-talented dancer, singer, musician and actress. She has achieved moderate fame for her starring role in The Disney Channel's Shake It Up! and has also released her own music.

  • What's She Been In?

She has only been in two live-action films — Frenemies and Zapped — both of which were released on The Disney Channel.

  • Why She's Going To Be Huge

She is set to star opposite Tom Holland in the big superhero event of next year: Spider-Man: Homecoming. Given that the MCU is now the biggest franchise series of all time, Homecoming should give her the exposure she needs to become a breakout star.

3. Harry Styles

  • Who Is He?

My guess is you already know who he is, but in case you don't, he was one of the massively beloved singers in One Direction, a chart-topping, record-breaking boyband.

  • What's He Been In?

Nothing... yet.

  • Why He's Going To Be Huge

I'm sort of cheating with this one, because Harry Styles is already huge. Yet he has never acted before, so his acting debut — in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk — should have his fans flocking in droves to ensure he makes it as a movie star as well as a pop star.

4. Ruby Rose

  • Who Is She?

Rose is an Australian model, DJ and Television presenter, who achieved relative fame as the face of Maybelline New York in Australia.

  • What's She Been In?

Ruby Rose achieved particular critical acclaim for her role as Stella Carlin in Orange is The New Black, the ultra-cool lesbian who stirs up trouble inside the women's only prison.

  • Why She's Going To Be Huge

Coming up over the next year are not one, not two, but a whopping three franchise films: Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, XXX: Return of Xander Cage and John Wick: Chapter Two. If these don't make her a megastar, I don't know what will.

5. Anya Taylor-Joy

  • Who Is She?

Taylor-Joy is an American-British model and actress who lives in America. She has professional training as a ballet dancer.

  • What's She Been In?

Taylor-Joy has already made waves this year, starring in Sundance Sensation The Witch and science-fiction horror Morgan.

  • Why She's Going To Be Huge

Up next for Taylor-Joy is the psychological thriller Split, directed by legendary filmmaker M.Night Shyamalan. The big twist at the end: probably Taylor-Joy's massive success.

6. Lana Condo

  • Who Is She?

Lana Condor is a Vietnamese-American actress who made her name in X-Men: Apocalypse.

  • What's She Been In?

Just X-Men: Apocalypse so far, where she played "Mall Rat" Jubilation Lee, making her a firm favourite among Marvel fans.

  • Why She's Going To Be Huge

With recent deleted footage emerging from Apocalypse giving even more depth to her Jubilee character, Condor definitely has the natural talent to become a star. Next up is Patriots Day: based upon the Boston Marathon Bombing, she plays Officer Sean Collier's girlfriend.

7. Lulu Wilson

  • Who Is She?

The youngest actress on the list at a mere 10 years old, Lulu Wilson started her career working on commercials at the tender age of three.

  • What's She Been In?

She has had supporting roles in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced horror Deliver Us From Evil and the short-lived CBS TV series The Millers.

  • Why She's Going To Be Huge

With horrors Slumber, Ouija: Origin Of Evil and Annabelle 2 all coming up, it seems that Wilson will be the next big thing when it comes to intensely creepy children. Check out the horrifying Ouija: Origin Of Evil trailer below:
