As the year of 2016 comes to a close, it's time to start thinking of what is to come next. That is exactly the case when it comes to the movies in the MCU. You've got your highly anticipated movies like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Black Panther, but probably one of the most anticipated movies has to be Avengers: Infinity War. #Marvel has been preparing this since 2012 with The Avengers. Come 2018, the battle with Thanos over the Infinity Gauntlet will begin.

Until then, we'll just have to contemplate where the final Infinity Stone could possibly surface. So far, we have been introduced to five of the six stones. Those stones are the Tesseract, the Aether, the Orb, the Stone from Loki's Staff, and the Eye of Agamotto. Each stone has been introduced in a different movie throughout the #MCU. So it is most likely that we will see the final stone before Infinity War. It is also important to note that the technical terms for all of the current stones are: Space, Reality, Power, Mind, and Time. So that just leaves the Soul Gem. With that being said, let's take a look at the possibilities of the Soul Gem showing up in future Marvel movies.

'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' (Likely)

When Guardians of the Galaxy came out back in 2014, it really introduced the whole idea of the Infinity Stones to those who were not that educated in that type of comic book lore. It was also the first time #Thanos was seen in his full glory. So in a way, Guardians of the Galaxy kicked off the whole Infinity War. Therefore, it seems only fitting that it end the way that it began, with the Guardians. Not only that, but Kurt Russell will be playing Ego, who in the comics is a living planet. Now, it hasn't been officially confirmed on whether not Ego will assume his planet form in the movie, but it doesn't seem out of the question that if he does, he'd use the Soul Gem to do so.

'Spider-Man: Homecoming' (Unlikely)

Everyone knows that when it comes to being a hero, Spider-Man is known more for being grounded as a street-level hero. Even though he was in The Infinity Gauntlet storyline, back in the '90s, Spider-Man has never really been much of a cosmic superhero. Even with that, it wouldn't fit what we know about Spider-Man: Homecoming and its story. We know that the main villain is set to be the Vulture, played by Michael Keaton, along with some other minor villains like Shocker and Tinkerer. Not only that, but Vulture is said to be a former employee of Tony Stark, who is also set to be in this movie. By the looks of it, Vulture is out for revenge. So if anything, the big power conflict in this movie will be more scientific, rather than cosmic.

'Thor: Ragnarok' (Likely)

The third and final of the MCU movies to come out in 2017, #ThorRagnarok is set to be a powerhouse of a movie. Not only will it feature Thor, but also the Hulk and possibly Doctor Strange as well. As far as we know, Cate Blanchett will be playing the villain, Hela. She plans on releasing Ragnarok, which is the Norse Mythology Doomsday. It wouldn't be out of the question for her to do so through possibly the Soul Gem. The other thing we have to know is that this movie is set to use segments from the popular comic, Planet Hulk. For them to use the Soul Gem in some sort of way with that doesn't seem impossible either.

'Black Panther' (Possible)

One Marvel movie that everyone seems to be excited for no matter what is Black Panther. It's not just because of its all-star cast and director. It's simply the fact that Black Panther is an awesome character in general. We already know that two of the big possible villains will be Kilmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan), and a returning, handless, Ulysses Klaue, played again by Andy Serkis. However, not much thought has been put into what either of their motivations could be.

As many know, Black Panther is from Wakanda, which is a fictional area in Africa that is segregated from all other civilization. What makes Wakanda so special is the fact that it is scientifically superior than any other place in the world. Could it be possible that some of what makes Wakanda stand as tall as it does be due to to an Infinity Stone — more specifically, the Soul Gem? An item of such power doesn't seem too far out of the possible clutch of a power-hungry villain that we could possibly see through Kilmonger or Klaue.

'Ant-Man And The Wasp' (Probably)

Of all of the movies on this list, this one might be a bit of a stretch. It might even be a Giant-Man-sized stretch. But there are possibilities, so hear me out. There is a lot of talk about what will be happening in terms of the story. What may most likely happen is the movie will deal with the subject of the Microverse that Ant-Man ever so slightly touched on. Not only that, but we may or may not also see the return of one Janet van Dyne, a.k.a. the original Wasp. If you remember correctly, according to Hank Pym:

"She turned off her regulator, and went subatomic."

Could it be possible that Hope could make it back to the real world due to the Soul Gem? The answer is yes! You might be thinking, "How would they use the Soul Gem if they don't even have it?" Well, as a matter of fact, they actually might. Or, in this case, Janet would have it. Both Hank and Janet went on countless missions together. It could be possible that perhaps on one of those missions they found something that was (or was possibly similar to) the Soul Gem. It is also possible that Janet could have had said Stone on her when she shrunk. That seems to be the most reasonable possibility, because otherwise she has no chance of getting back, as she doesn't have growth formula to get her back that Scott did. That, or they will send Scott back into the Microverse to find her. Both are possible solutions, but seeing how the Tesseract was discovered in the 1900s as well, it would be out of the question for the Soul Gem to appear there as well.

'Captain Marvel' (Unlikely)

The reason that the chances of the Soul Gem showing up in Captain Marvel are unlikely is simple: this movie is set to come out just after Avengers: Infinity War. It is literally the next movie on the schedule. Now, the only reason that the Soul Gem would show up in this movie would be it somehow involved after the events of Infinity War. That, or like parts of Doctor Strange, the movie takes place before Infinity War. Although Captain Marvel is one of the biggest cosmic superheroes there is, it is most likely that an Infinity Stone will not show up in her movie, simply because it will have been too late. That is, unless they continue out the story of the Infinity Stones throughout other Marvel movies.

Conclusion

In conclusion, with Avengers: Infinity War now just within the foreseeable future, it's time to really start thinking about where the last Infinity Stone will fit in. In any of the movies that it is considered possible, or likely, I would love to see it happen. It would be interesting to see it show up on one of the TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or The Defenders. Even though that seems the most unlikely out of everything, that would be absolutely incredible. It would finally bring the television universes in with the cinematic universes, which every Marvel fan has been clamoring for. Regardless, the excitement when it comes to seeing the final stone come into play is out of this world!

So what do you think? Which movie would you like to see the Soul Gem be brought in? What heroes should be added to Infinity War? Would you want to see the Soul Gem brought in through one of the TV shows? Let me know your thoughts down below!
