(Warning: HUGE spoilers for Seasons 1–5 of American Horror Story and some slight spoilers for AHS Season 6 below. You've been warned)

With American Horror Story (2011– ) airing its sixth season last month, many changing faces have graced the show over the years. Some, however, have remained the same, especially under different guises. So let's take a look at some actors and actresses who have appeared as three or more characters, and then decide — who brings the best characters to the show?

Frances Conroy

Moira O'Hara — Moira O'Hara worked for the Harmon family as their housekeeper. She was murdered by her former employer Constance Langdon who shot her though the eye.

Angel of Death — Shachath (also known as the Angel of Death), is a kind-hearted angel who performs the kiss of death to anyone dying or wishes to die.

Myrtle Snow — Myrtle Snow is an eccentric and honest witch, who was the Head of the Witches Council. in 2013, she was burned at the stake by Fiona Goode. If this wasn't bad enough, she was once again burned at the stake by Cordelia Foxx in 2014.

Gloria Mott — Gloria Mott is a wealthy heiress who valued her status and reputation almost as much as her son, Dandy, who was intent on joining a freak show. Gloria's demise came at the hands of Dandy, who shot her in the head. After murdering an Avon Lady, Dandy then proceeded to decapitate her before sewing her head to his mothers body, creating his very own two-headed Tattler Twin Puppe.

Lily Rabe

Nora Montgomery — Nora Montgomery is a socialite who was disappointed with her lifestyle. Despite being wealthy, it was not the lavish existence she had expected, and thought it could have been much more.

Sister Mary Eunice McKee — Sister Mary Eunice McKee was a nun who served at the sanitarium. After being possessed by a demon, Sister Mary Eunice is thrown over a staircase to her death, ending her life, and the demon's.

Misty Day — Misty Day was a witch who had been killed after being burned at the stake, again after suffocating, and thirdly after failing to return from Hell! She is an earthly young witch who spends most of her time meditating, gardening, and listening to the tunes of Stevie Nicks.

Aileen Wuornos — Aileen Wuornos was a prostitute who murdered seven men between 1989 and 1990. She was executed by lethal injection after being convicted of six of the murders.

Shelby Miller — Shelby Miller was a former yoga instructor in Los Angeles, where she met her future husband, Matt. Following their marriage, the couple soon expected their first child. After going out to celebrate, the pair were attacked during a "gang initiation" which resulted in Matt spending time in intensive care, and Miller losing her child.

Jessica Lange

Constance Langdon Constance Langdon is a cunning former actress who had the persona of a woman-next-door, caring lady. Her parenting skills were somewhat cruel, despite her obvious love for her children. She was responsible for killing her late husband and his mistress after catching them in bed together in 1983.

Sister Jude Martin — Sister Jude Martin was a former nightclub singer who had sexual relations with a number of partners on a casual basis. Having an alcohol problem, Martin was involved in a couple of drunk-driving accidents that eventually led her to the church.

Fiona Goode — Fiona Goode is a former Supreme Witch of the Salem descendants. Goode was fearful of losing her looks due to age. She idolizes her life of luxury where she gets to travel the world.

Elsa Mars — Elsa Mars is the owner of Fräulein Elsa's Cabinet of Curiosities, and a former singer and prostitute. She is a German expatriate who still craves the limelight, but her dreams never materialized as she was fatally stabbed and sent to heaven.

Mare Winningham

Miss Hazel Evers — Miss Hazel Evers works at the Hotel Cortez and launders clothes and linen. She met her demise at the hands of her former lover (and employer), Mr. James March, who shot her in the head.

Rita Gayheart — Rita Gayheart was an evil woman who plotted the ultimate plan with her husband to frame her brother for killing her deformed baby, just so that they could escape to a life of luxury.

Alicia Spencer — Alicia Spencer was a single mother who has an incestuous relationship with her son, Kyle. Following his death, Spencer was pushed to the limit and contemplates suicide. After his return, Spencer resumes their relationship, but he bludgeons her to death with a trophy.

Jamie Brewer

Adelaide "Addie" Langdon — Adelaide "Addie" Langdon is a gentle soul but sometimes her presence comes across as threatening, especially when it comes to warning others about the Murder House. She was tragically killed on Halloween 2011 in a hit-and-run automobile accident.

Nan — Nan is a student clairvoyant witch at the Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies. Her fellow students constantly undermine her, and she is not perceived any better in the outside world either. But this couldn't be further from the truth, as the young witch has the unique ability to get into the minds of others.

Marjorie — Marjorie is a ventriloquist dummy and the alternate personality of Chester Creb. She met her demise when Creb stabbed her to death.

Evan Peters

Tate Langdon — Tate Langdon is a psychiatric patient and high school student, who currently resides at home as a ghost after being shot to death by a S.W.A.T. team.

Kit Walker — Kit Walker is a former gas station attendant, who currently resides at Briarcliff Manor after being convicted of his wife's murder, and that of two other women.

Kyle Spencer — Kyle Spencer was initially a very caring young man, but following his death in a bus crash, he became more robotic after being resurrected. He later found out that his body had been rebuilt from body parts of his former fraternity members.

Jimmy Darling — Jimmy Darling suffered from Ectrodactyly, which is the deficiency or absence of one or more central digits of the hand or foot. As a result of this, he was a was part of the freak show, earning him the stage name "Lobster Boy."

Mr. James March — Mr. James March was the designer of the Hotel Cortez. Having built and owning the hotel in the 1920s, March tried his hand at murder, using the hotel to hide and hunt his victims. Having killed his lover/maid Miss Evers, he sliced his own throat before the police could arrest him. He still resides at the hotel, as a ghost.

Kathy Bates

Madame Delphine LaLaurie — Madame Delphine LaLaurie is a mean and arrogant socialite who tortured and murdered her black slaves.

Ethel Darling — Ethel Darling is a bearded woman who performs in Fräulein Elsa's Cabinet of Curiosities and she is a well-respected woman within the group of performers.

Iris — Iris is the manager of the Hotel Cortez and has a good eye for spotting a policeman of drug addict. She has a son named Donovan who died of a drug overdose, but following his revival, the pair now reside in the hotel so that Iris can be close to him.

Thomasin White — Thomasin White lived in the 16th century and became leader of her colony following her husband's departure. Orchestrating a coup against her when she refuses to move inland, White is shackled and left in the wilderness. However, a mysterious and feral woman rescues her, and she goes about seeking revenge.

Angela Bassett

Marie Laveau — Marie Laveau is the Voodoo Queen and leader of the coven's most powerful rivals in the Dark Arts. She stops at nothing to cause the utmost pain to those who threaten her or her people.

Desiree Dupree — Desiree Dupree was brought up as a boy named Derek until he reached the age of 12. When puberty set in, he developed three breasts, which led her to change her name to Desiree, and ultimately perform in the freak show.

Ramona Royale — Ramona Royale is a former actress, who starred in many blaxploitation films in the 1970s.

Lee — Lee Miller is a police officer who was shot in the line of duty. Struggling to cope, she developed an addiction to painkillers, which cost her her marriage and her daughter. Despite her addiction, she is a hard working and determined, with a no-nonsense attitude to her job.

Denis O'Hare

Larry Harvey — Larry Harvey used to be the owner of the Murder House where he resided with his wife. The character has third-degree burns down his face and body after setting fire to his family's beds as they slept.

Spalding — Spalding works at the Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies as a butler. Appearing as a ghost, the mute butler met his fate after being stabbed in the heart by Zoe Benson.

Stanley — Stanley was a con artist whose implied death was by Fräulein Elsa's Cabinet of Curiosities. Ever the chancer, Stanley was always after a quick buck, and if murder was the way to achieve it, then so be it.

Liz Taylor — Liz Taylor (née Nick Pryor), is a bartender at the Hotel Cortez. She was employed in order for her to escape her former life as a married man.

Dr. Elias Cunningham — Dr. Elias Cunningham is an author and professor at Bradley University. His main area of research was into the two murderous nurses, Miranda and Bridget Jane.

Sarah Paulson

Hypodermic Sally — Hypodermic Sally (also known as Sally McKenna), appears as a ghost after being pushed out of a window. Despite this, the junkie found success in the afterlife as a blogger.

Billie Dean Howard — Billie Dean Howard is a middle-aged medium, who possesses powerful psychic powers that enable her to communicate with the dead.

Lana Winters — Lana Winters is an ambitious journalist and author, who keeps her lesbian relationship with her teacher under wraps.

Cordelia Foxx — Cordelia Foxx is a Supreme Witch who is the Headmistress at the Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, and later reigning Supreme of the Coven.

Bette Tattler / Dot Tattle — Bette Tattler / Dot Tattle are conjoined twins, but with widely different personalities. Bette is filled with love for classic film icons such as Betty Grable, whereas Dot appears to endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining.
