There has been a lot of controversy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe lately with the recent announcement of Avengers: Infinity War and who will be included. We are already aware that the main group of Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel are to appear in Infinity War, but there are a certain four heroes who seem to be forgotten. Of course, I am referring to the Defenders.

For those of you who have been living under a rock since 2015, the Defenders are "street-level Avengers," if you will, consisting of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Each of these heroes have their own solo series, some having multiple seasons, and will team up in The Defenders mini series next year. These four, as of now, have not been confirmed for Infinity War, but I sincerely hope they are. These characters have no films to call their own in the MCU, but they more than deserve a spot in Infinity War. Here's why:

1. We Need The Ultimate Connection

So, looking back on all of the Netflix series, they try their very best to keep the shows connected to the MCU while still keeping themselves separate from the Avengers films. This pretty much goes against what Kevin Feige and the Marvel big-shots sought out to create. These characters have awesome characteristics, much like Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans, but have no interest in pairing up RDJ with someone like Jessica Jones, who just so happens to share the same kind of snarky and sarcastic sense of humor. Plus, you have to imagine that if Infinity War will showcase a massive army at the hands of Thanos (which it most likely will), the Avengers will need more than enough ground support.

2. Power Combos!

As I mentioned before with the character interactions, to include these superheroes means something I have been dying to see: power combos! Imagine seeing Luke Cage and Hulk smashing through soldiers or Iron Fist and Spider-Man flipping and kicking the shit out of thugs. I am more than hopeful that they will do this, but until something is officially confirmed, it remains a dream. And finally...

3. The Next Avengers

With Infinity War not only being a close for most everything that has come before, it also marks the end of many of the original Avengers actors' contracts. We already know characters such as Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and even Black Panther will remain when Infinity War is over and will start up the next generation of the team, but we don't know exactly who is meant to be on this team. With very little characters left after the War, I'm sure the Defenders will deserve some much needed cinematic screen time. Daredevil and Iron Fist, more than others, deserve a spot on the team due to both their powers and deep-seeded heroism.

Until then, we still have The Defenders on Netflix to look forward to:
