The long-awaited trailer for Logan, Hugh Jackman's final outing as Wolverine, impressed when it dropped earlier today — but if it was missing anything, it was some indication of exactly why this film has an R-rating. Don't get me wrong, Logan looks pretty bleak, but there was a lack of blood or gore worthy of that R.

Don't worry, though. An uncensored, R-rated edit of the trailer just arrived, and a new shot around the 1:20 mark folded in among the others does plenty to suggest we're far from shiny superhero movie territory here.

Check the R-rated Logan cut out below.

Welcome back, Logan. You might be old, but those claws are still sharp enough to splice right through a man's skull... and his brain matter... and back through his skull. Good lord.

The trailer doesn't give too much away, but if the above scene is any indicator we're in for a truly brutal thrill ride. Logan is the first superhero movie since Deadpool likely to come with an R rating, and director James Mangold clearly hasn't held back with the violence. The movie hits theaters March 3, 2017.

How brutal could Wolverine get now that Logan is rated R?
