It all makes sense! Yesterday, speculation was rife that we'd be in for some sort of Twin Peaks/Mulholland Dr. announcement after David Lynch posted something cryptic on Twitter, along with the discovery of a countdown site set to expire next Tuesday.
But new evidence has come to light that might connect all of these dots. David Lynch is going to be curating the Festival of Disruption, taking place in LA from Oct. 8–9, and he's started a campaign to find two VIP guests to come with him!
Here's What You'll Get To Do If Selected
I'll let David Lynch himself present this amazing campaign event:
And if that didn't convince you, here's Agent Dale Cooper himself (a.k.a. Kyle MacLachlan) expounding the virtues of such a damn fine endeavor!
So just to round up the basics, if you win you'll be able to:
- Hang out with David-freaking-Lynch
- Have a damn fine cup of piping hot coffee with Kyle MacLachlan
- Get flown to LA and stay in a 4-star hotel
- Listen to some great live music
- Watch fantastic films
- Hear Mel "Mega Comedy Legend" Brooks chat about all things funny

Here's How To Enter
David Lynch has brought this campaign to life through a partnership with Omaze, and you can go through their site to enter here: Omaze.com/David.
To put yourself in the running, you just need to donate $10 or more to the David Lynch Foundation, which strives to help at-risk populations (inner city children, veterans and their families, abuse survivors, and many more) work through trauma and stress via the practice of Transcendental Mediation. It's a truly wonderful cause and has already helped over 500,000 children and adults throughout the world. To find out more about the David Lynch Foundation, head to their website.
What Does This Have To Do With That Tweet And Countdown Calendar?
Well, yours truly entered the raffle and found out that the campaign will close on September 29, with the winner being announced the on September 30. However, since the countdown calendar expires on September 27, they could well be separate events. It could even be that countdown site was set up by a third party and is unrelated to the Tweet... or someone's just really terrible at counting. Ah, the owls are never what they seem!
However, if we look back at the Tweet, in which Lynch uses a quote from Mulholland Dr. — "It'll be just like in the movies. Pretending to be somebody else" — in the context of the campaign it takes on a new and perhaps more logical meaning: He's Betty, we're Rita, and we're heading out to see a spectacle together.
