The story of how legendary ballplayer Jackie Robinson changed America!
42 is the story of Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman), the first black ballplayer in the Major League. Robinson’s playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 made history and crossed racial divides. The team was under the guidance of executive manager Branch Ricke (Harrison Ford) at the time.
For a long time, Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) had planned to do a biopic on Robinson. The screen legend wanted to direct and star as Ricke, but the project never came to pass.
