Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts lead an ensemble cast in this dysfunctional family tragicomedy

The Company Men director and established television producer John Wells will bring Tracy Letts’ darkly comedic, Pulitzer Prize-winning play August: Osage County to the big screen. Set in modern day, middle-class Oklahoma, the play centers on the Weston family who must overcome their differences and band together when their alcoholic patriarch goes missing. Meryl Streep stars as the sharp-tongued Violet Weston, whose addiction to painkillers does little to help her venomous cynicism, whilst Julia Roberts appears as her eldest daughter, Barbara, who attempts to stay strong despite a deteriorating marriage and pot-smoking 14 year old daughter (Abigail Breslin). Dermot Mulroney, Juliette Lewis, Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Cooper round out this dysfunctional family.
