Terry Gilliam and Christoph Waltz search for the reason for our existence!
Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) looks set to direct Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) in an upcoming high-concept sci-fi film. Waltz will play Qohen Leth, an eccentric computer genius searching for the reason for existence. In an Orwellian corporate world where society is subject to constant surveillance by ‘mancams’ owned by shadowy figures known as Management, Leth attempts to define a solution to the Zero Theorem. Living in the remains of a fire-damaged chapel, the cloistered recluse receives occasional company in the form of Bainsley, a flamboyant love interest, and Bob, an insider sent from Management to keep tabs on Leth’s progress on the theorem.
The film is set to being shooting on October 22nd on location in Bucharest.
Dean Zanuck (Road to Perdition, Get Low) is producing and Gilliam, whose long-gestating project The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is still without a release date, will also co-produce.
Recently Matt Damon confirmed that he will also join the cast for a minor role.
