Martin Scorsese delivers another instant classic in this historical tale of religion and violence
In the 17th century two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity. Silence was to be directed by Martin Scorsese and presumably star Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio del Toro. The adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s novel has, however, been long gestating and Scorsese is now being sued by the film’s producer Cecchi Gori due to the delays. Martin Scorsese is currently working on The Wolf of Wall Street which will star Leonardo DiCaprio.
