Hugh Jackman breaks down the X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer

"I'm not sure if I was meant to say Nixon"

Well, looks like Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman just gave us some amazing insight, as well as some potential unintentional spoilers about X-Men: Days of Future Past! We constantly see scenes where the mutants appear to have invaded some sort of official government event, and might even have been a televised event given the cameras (0:58).

Wolverine has a history with war events, and it looks like this time X-Men is taking things into the Vietnam War! There are some pretty key hints at possible plot spoilers that I think need to be examined.

  • Wolverine has to stop Mystique from doing something that eventually leads the government to commence mass execution of the mutants.
  • Hugh Jackman had to question whether or not he was allowed to tell us that it was during the time of President Nixon.
  • The mutants invade a government event in the past.

Some may think these aren't connected, but I think there is a good chance they are. Mystique assassinates Nixon in the past, which leads the government to follow protocol similar to 9/11 where we declared a war on terrorism, except on mutants, and so Wolverine must be sent back in time to stop Mystique so the mutants can survive in the future. What do you think?

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters on May 23rd, 2014.
