Fox's 'Sleepy Hollow' Lands It's First Recruits
Fox has been developing a new pilot based on Washington Irving's short story, Sleepy Hollow, and Orlando Jones and Katia Winter have just inked a deal to join the cast, according to Deadline.
The couple are the latest thesps to join the show being co-created by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the writing team behind Fringe, Star Trek and The Transformers. Needless to say with them attached and now Jones (Evolution), this one is getting a little buzz.
This modern day take on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will follow Ichabod Crane as he teams up with the female sheriff of Sleepy Hollow as they attempt to solve bizarre mysteries. The former history professor gets thrown into a present day Sleepy Hollow where he is accused of the murder of a officer of the law. He takes on the task of proving his innocence and convincing a suspicious detective to believe he is a time traveler from the 18th century.
Jones (above) will portray, Lt. Frank Williams; who is described as a "serious and sternly professional detective" that is called upon to investigate a double homicide. Swedish actress Winter (left), who is fresh off her breakout role on Showtime's Dexter, will play Ichabod's wife, Katrina.
I'm all for this casting announcement as both Jones and Winter definitely have the acting chops. But a time travel element in a Sleep Hollow television series? What the quack?
