Did hackers confirm Emma Watson for 'Fifty Shades of Grey'?
At the risk of earning a lot of wrath, I'm going on the record as saying I hate that Fifty Shades of Grey exists and I hate that there's a movie being made of it. E. L. James makes Stephanie Meyer look like a future Pulitzer winner, and that is saying a lot (Cue the angry range in the comments section).
HOWEVER, hacker collective Anonymous (which seems to be getting further away from its original mission of exposing the secrets of corrupt governments and corporations by the day) reportedly targeted the database of German studio Constantin, and found files that apparently verify the long-standing rumor that actress Emma Watson has been cast in the coveted role of Anastasia Steele.
Now, I love me some Emma, and this as a career move would definitely be in lockstep with her steady attempts to remove herself from the squeaky-clean good girl image she gained playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise. She's been evasive when asked about playing Anastasia in the past, but I say when there's this much smoke, there's fire, so I am inclined to believe these reports are true and Emma is our new Anastasia Steele.
Next up for Watson is Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring, which will definitely see her moving away from her goody-two-shoes image, as the story revolves around a group of fame-hungry teenagers who break into celebrity homes and thieve their stuff.
No word yet on when Fifty Shades of Grey will start shooting. Until then, The Bling Ring will be hitting theaters in June.
