The Rock wants to lay the smack down in 'Star Wars'
Action star, and owner of the coolest eyebrow on the planet, Dwayne Johnson wants in on Star Wars: Episode VII and has issued a "come and get me" plea to director J.J. Abrams. The man sometimes known as the Rock was in Sydney recently for the premiere of his current movie G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He revealed that having been cast as leader of the "Joes" in Retaliation had fulfilled one half of his boyhood dream and that getting a gig on Star Wars is next on the list.
Talking to news.com.au, Johnson admitted:
I played with two lines of action figures when I was a kid: G.I. Joe and Star Wars. By the way, because we didn't have a lot of money, I used to steal them. I'd just rip open the packages and shove 'em in my pockets ... like a lot of kids. I got caught a couple of times, got my ass kicked by my parents. So when I got the call saying, 'How do you feel about becoming the leader of the G.I. Joes?', it was like if I got a call from George Lucas saying, 'I want you to be in Star Wars'.
I'm gonna call J.J. and you're gonna help by printing it and I'm gonna be in Star Wars!
Kids, if you are reading this, I in no way condone stealing action figures out of their boxes and stuffing them in your pockets. That's really dumb. If you you are going to steal, make sure you take the box as well. The figures will be worth a lot more cash later on.
Would the Rock be a good fit for Star Wars? His CV is dominated by action movie fare, but in films such as Southland Tales and Get Smart he proved himself to be an actor that offers more than simply punching people in the face and delivering snappy one-liners. And let's be honest, it would be cool as f**k to see him rocking a lightsaber.
What do you guys think? Would you like to see Johnson lay the smack down in Star Wars? If so, what role would you like to see him play? Drop your suggestions in the comment section below.
