Avengers 2: Jeremy Renner confirmed as Hawkeye
The mightiest superheroes are soon to be re-assembled again to fight a new enemy, Ultron. Marvel's second landmark film, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, is coming to theatres May 1 2015. It is now confirmed that Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, will definitely be on board.
It was rumoured back in May that Jeremy Renner was a little unhappy with his role as the arrow expert S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the first The Avengers movie (true, he was hypnotized by Loki ans was under the spell of his power for most of his screen-time). He shared some negative comments back then (saying to Total Film: "For 90 percent of the movie, I'm not the character I signed on to play, It's kind of a vacancy. [He's] not even a bad guy, because there's not really a consciousness to him.") and it has been rumoured that the Marvel Studio might recast the actor for a more enthusiastic Hawkeye.
Now we have a pretty straightforward comment from Renner himself, confirming that despite the rumours, he is going to be back in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron (in a yet unpublished interview via CBM).
The Latino Review asked him:
Will we see more of Hawkeye in The Avengers 2?
Renner's answer was:
Yes! Of course.
So there you go. Both director Joss Whedon and Marvel Studio's president Kevin Feige have confirmed Hawkeye's role in the sequel, where he will probably interact more with the other heroes. Despite being under the spell of Loki for a long time in The Avengers, Renner did have some epic moments in the final battle and his character was also important because of his relationship with Black Widow. Let's hope he will be able to show off his archery skills even more in The Avengers 2.
Are you happy that Renner is going to return as Hawkeye or would you have preferred seeing someone else playing the role?
