Hugh Jackman wants Channing Tatum as the next Wolverine!?
While the man who best pulls off the adamantium-clawed superhero is still currently prepping for the third installment of the Wolverine franchise, Hugh Jackman recently revealed that he's unsure as to whether he himself will return as the titular character!
The thesp also said that there isn't a script for the sequel yet, and it could be some time before another standalone Wolverine flick surfaces. But, back then, little did we know that Hugh Jackman was possibly paving the way for a new Wolvie, a Channing Tatum Wolvie.
Jackman, who has starred as Wolverine in six movies, is currently promoting Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past, was asked who might be a decent replacement for his Wolverine and responded with this rather scary thought:
I don't know who could play him. Channing Tatum could probably play him.
That’s the second time Channing Tatum has been mentioned recently in the context of X-Men, with the franchise's long-standing producer Lauren Schuler Donner saying, "I'm dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum."
Jackman revealed recently that he knew he had an "expiry date" on his role as Wolvie in the X-Men franchise:
I'm not 100 per cent sure when that is. I'm also really sure it's not just my decision. In fact, more than likely not my decision! We'll see.
Are you guys freaking out as much as I am right now? The Magic Mike actor certainly has the abs to take over for Jackman, and showed his action chops in movies like Haywire and G.I.Joe... But something just doesn't stick, here. What do you guys think: Would Channing Tatum make a good Wolverine? Hit me up in the comment section below!
The seventh X-Men instalment, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, arrives in theaters on May 23.
