December of this past year a number of trademarks were filed by Marvel, and at the time things seemed rather suspicious considering just how many of these titles were related to upcoming movies, but with the news that has surfaced since the rumors first came about, this would have to be much more than mere coincidence.

All of the titles filed for trademarks are now related to a current and/or previous Marvel Studios projects:

Age Of Ultron, Alpha Flight, Black Panther, Guardians Of The Galaxy, New Warriors, Rocket Raccoon, Strikeforce Morituri, Journey Into Mystery, Irredeemable Ant Man

Some of the most obvious titles like The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which is the sequel to The Avengers that will hit next year. Guardians of the Galaxy happens to make complete sense simply by the name. Both Black Panther and all of the Guardians, including Rocket Raccoon have been mentioned in potentially get their own movies. However, other titles go a little deeper than that, so let's explore.

Alpha Flight was an interesting series to be on the list since its cast is mostly owned by 20th Century Fox thanks to their ownership of the X-Men rights. However, with a little bit more digging we now know that Big Hero 6, which is an upcoming Disney Animation movie inspired by the comics, was a spin-off of Alpha Flight.

New Warriors is a group that helped make a superhero who is highly teased in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie: Nova! With the Nova Corps, and Nova's initiating officer being a major character in Guardians of the Galaxy, it seems fitting that Marvel could potentially be looking at a New Warriors featured film.

Irredeemable Ant-Man seems off considering Eric O'Grady is the only Ant-Man not to be in the Ant-Man movie, however, when you take a look at the comic book's synopsis, I have no doubt that the Ant-Man movie is planning on using some of this in their debut picture, especially since it ties in so well with Marvel Studios latest movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

O'Grady's best friend and fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. surveillance agent Chris McCarthy was the first person who actually wore what would become O'Grady's Ant-Man suit. McCarthy was killed however, during a HYDRA attack when he was shot in the head by a HYDRA agent. Eric took the suit off of Chris's dead body just before the Helicarrier crashed.

Journey Into Mystery is the name of the very first comic Thor showed up in. The comic book appeared on a billboard in the first movie as well, so keeping that trademark is definitely important. Also, having just hired a writer for Thor 3 around the same time that these trademarks were filed, there's a decent chance that there is a connecting affiliation there as well.

And finally, the oddball of the bunch, Strikeforce Morituri. This one definitely caught me off guard and had me baffled for awhile until I found this TV series information:

In 2003, the Sci Fi Channel announced it was developing 1000 Days, a live-action TV movie and backdoor pilot based on Strikeforce: Morituri, in which near-future soldiers gain enhanced abilities but die 1,000 days later. Written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, it was a Reveille Productions and Marvel Studios co-production executive produced by Reveille head Ben Silverman and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad and Rick Ungar. Waterman Entertainment optioned the series, with the initial plan being to start production in December 2011.

December 2011 wasn't that long ago when it comes to the terms of film business. If Waterman Entertainment has since dropped rights to production since then, that means that Marvel Studios could very well be planning to turn 1,000 Days into a TV show of their own! What do you think? Were these trademarks connections with future movies or just mere coincidences, or is this a roadmap to possible future Marvel Studios projects?

I am excited to see. Tell me your thoughts and theories below!
