It was reported a few years ago that director Ruairi Robinson (BlinkyTM) was going to create an American adaptation of the classic anime, Akira! The project was getting a lot of hype, but many of the hardcore fans were angry about an American version of the anime cult classic. The film was also going to be split into a sequel while being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s company Appian Way and Warner Bros Pictures.

In my opinion, I would've been very interested in watching an American version of Akira. As long as they paid their respects to the original film. This is what's left of the American version Akira movie that never happened by Ruairi Robinson.

Concept art and storyboard illustrations from Ruairi Robinson:

Would an American version of Akira be a successful film?
Tell me why or why not in the comment section below.
