With a Hobbit movie releasing every year, I think we can soon expect the marketing push for the final installment The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies to begin pretty soon.
Indeed, according to TheOneRing.net, Peter Jackson looks like he'll begin its epic marketing adventure at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The convention recently posted a confirmation that Warner Bros. would be delivering a trio of films to San Diego, including The Battle of the Five Armies. Here's the statement:
On Saturday, July 26th, beginning at 10 a.m., Warner Bros. Pictures brings three of its most hotly anticipated films to this year’s Con: Peter Jackson will be on the main stage with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, from New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, and George Miller will be on hand to present a first look at Mad Max: Fury Road, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.
The Hall H audience will also get a peek at the Wachowskis’ original sci-fi actioner Jupiter Ascending, also from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. Attending stars will be revealed at a later date.
Of course, we're only like to get to see a snippet of the final Hobbit movie, especially considering Jackson said there's still extensive VFX work to be done. However, the Comic-Con presentation will no doubt provide a mountain of information as well as kickstarting the marketing push. I think we can certainly expect to see a trailer soon.
Unfortunately, this does mean that once again, Tolkien's cinematic world is slowly coming to a close. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies could possibly be the last time we visit the word of Middle Earth - well, that is until they inevitably reboot the series or try and make The Silmarillion...
