The long awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 “Alice in Wonderland has officially started production. Named after Lewis Carroll’s sequel, “Through the Looking Glass” will see the return of several beloved characters including the Hatter (Johnny Depp), Alice (Mia Wasikowska), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), and the Blue Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) and will feature all new adventures in Under…I mean Wonderland!

However, there is a significant change taking place. Tim Burton, the director of 2010’s Alice in Wonderland (see below for the trailer) has instead taken on the role of executive producer.

Taking his place as director is The Muppets Most Wanted's James Bobin. No worries though! The film is expected to have the same feel as the original since Linda Woolverton, who is the genius behind “Wonderland”’s screenplay, is taking charge of the sequel’s screenplay as well. The film will once again feature awesome trippy costumes designed by Oscar-award winning designer Colleen Atwood. In addition to the new director, audiences should get excited to see Sacha Baron Cohen as Time and Rhys Ifans as the Mad Hatter's father Zanik Hightopp (pretty sweet name huh?).

    He's perfect for this movie!
