Trailer: Kit Harington Cuts His Hair for Testament of Youth

by Posted on

Normally, a new trailer for a BBC Films production would only be of a finite amount of interest: Testament of Youth is, after all, a period piece about the First World War, and a romance to boot. For many, that's enough reason to go absolutely nowhere near it.

Except, of course, for look at Jon Snow's ruddy face!

The film tells the story of Vera Brittain (Alicia Vikander), a pioneering British journalist and one-time First World War nurse. Also starring Hayley Atwell, Dominic West and Taron Egerton, the movie looks set to explore themes of loss, conflict, inequality - what with Brittain having fought against both the chauvinism of Oxford University and the journalistic profession and the deep sense of grief that many felt after the horrendous casualties of the War. Indeed, the film takes its title from her memoir of the period, which was credited with helping many cope with their loss.

But enough about the horrifying realities of war, sexism, misogyny and Edwardian clothing - what does Harrington's eerily-short new hair mean?

    You grew nothing Jon Snow...
You grew nothing Jon Snow...

I mean, sure, he looks less like he's going to viciously assault a frost giant, which is a less useful characteristic in Edwardian England than Westeros, but still...

Jon Snow.

Seeing as he is reportedly contractually obliged to keep it long for Game of Thrones, this had better not mean anything's happening to Jon Snow...

Vera feels very much the same.
Vera feels very much the same.

Because I will literally break the BBC. With a Dire-Wolf.

Testament Of Youth is currently set for release in 2015.
