Is Keanu Reeves 47 Ronin a prequel to Samurai Jack?!
By now, most people here have seen (and had mixed feelings about) Keanu's 47 Ronin movie. Which honestly, I loved... but only for one particular reason. The entire time I was watching it, I noticed cues and hints that this indeed could BE a prequel to the cartoon networks all time animation, Samurai Jack!
Let us look at the five main elements that need to be in place for this to be a prequel, and a solid enough foundation to build a Samurai Jack movie.
*Expect lots of spoilers.*
5) A loner samurai
This was easy to notice throughout the movie. He was an outcast because he was looked upon as a demon, having been raised and trained by them. This was also the reason he could fight the way he did, of course.
We see the same in Jack, especially because he was sent to the future. This is a key element in Jack's personality! A solitary samurai.
4) Set in the "science fiction" past
As we saw, it wasn't ancient Japan of Earth... but it was ancient Japan. This gives freedom to write the story respecting today's Japanese tradition, but also gives room for when Jack is sent to the future by Aku to avoid Jack from destroying Aku's plan.
3) Dark Magic
We saw all sorts of shape-shifting magic... kind of the same that ... Aku uses! The Dragon lady herself used the famous shape shifting method of Aku. Which might mean perhaps she is one of his minions. Wait until Aku gets the news of her death! Opening up for the Sequel, Samurai Jack! If we know Samurai Jack's story, we know his father stopped Aku once. But when Aku returned, he killed Jack's family... Could Keanu Reeves be Jack's Father?!
2) Famous Sword that can only harm evil.
In the movie, he got this sword from the demon monks he trained with, and he got it with an entire group of swords. But if you recall, almost all of them were lost in the end... leaving only one. Kai's sword. We also know Jacks sword had the same properties, the ability to hurt only evil!
1) A reason to be send to the future.
There is no better reason for Aku to send Kai (or "Jack" if Kai, is Jack's Father and not Jack) into the future than the fact that he is the only human that fights like a demon, and successfully kill's demons like its child s play, (including shape shifting dragons) with a now one of a kind sword that is powerful enough to make Akus magic powerless! Resulting kai (or Jack) to be the only honorable pure hearted knowledgeable and skilled person to be able to stop Aku when he returns!
What do you guys think? Can we force Hollywood to spill the beans? And is Keanu a good choice to play Samurai Jack? Let me know in the comments..
